What safety standard does the SHK-2 Standard Brim meet?

Studson designed and built the SHK-2 Standard Brim to comply with ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2026 Type II+, a standard that has not yet been released. It is tested for both top and lateral impact. This helmet does not protect against all hazards; read the user manual before use.

What is the difference between the vented and non-vented SHK-2 Standard Brim?

The vented shell is Class C: it allows airflow but is not electrically rated. The non-vented shell is Class E, electrical rated. Both carry the same KOROYD liner, fit system and Fidlock chinstrap. Match the helmet class to your site's assessed hazards.

How does KOROYD protect against impact?

KOROYD is an energy-absorbing matrix of welded tubes that replaces the EPS foam found in most safety helmets. On impact the tubes crumple uniformly, absorbing kinetic energy and reducing the force that reaches the head. Because KOROYD crumples visibly under a severe impact, a daily inspection shows whether the liner has taken a hit and the helmet needs replacing.

Full Brim or Standard Brim: which SHK-2 should I choose?

The SHK-2 Standard Brim has a short front brim that opens up sightlines when looking overhead or climbing, plus an integrated rear peak that keeps rain and sun off the neck. The SHK-2 Full Brim has a 360-degree brim that shields the eyes and neck from overhead sun and runoff, suited to utilities and oil and gas crews working long hours in the open.
