Type 2 hard hats and safety helmets are tested to ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 to reduce the force of a blow to the top or sides of the head, not just the top. Choosing a Type 2 Helmet
Check the electrical class on the label. Class E helmets are proof-tested at 20,000 volts and Class G at 2,200 volts. Class C helmets, often vented, have no electrical protection.
